Small Payload Fluid Servicing System

The purpose of SPAFSS is to service fluid loops in a micro-gravity environment for filtering and gas entrapment. It provides control of priming, re-circulation, and de-gassing operations, and automatic monitoring of system pressures and performance. The SPAFSS has been designed to comply with flight requirements.

SPAFSS can serve as a standard piece of support equipment to prepare, degas, and filter water for extended duration, science experiments in microgravity (e.g. Cell Culture unit).  It can be used in controlled capillary irrigation of  plant growth systems and porous-interface building and residential humidity control systems.
