BPS
Enclosure
|
 |
|
The purpose of the BPS Enclosure is to house experimental hardware
and provide the structural interface to the Space Shuttle and ISS.
This enclosure is unique in that it provides access to the payload
through a drawer slide mechanism while maintaining efficient use of
both volume and weight. The enclosure was flown on STS 110 and STS
111 as part of the first BPS mission.

The BPS Enclosure can be easily customized to accommodate a variety
of payloads that require crew access to the inner workings of the
payload. The customization includes the analyses required for
structural verification. Future upgrades include accommodating rear
breathing capability and the removal of the Double Adapter Plate to
decrease weight.
