HUMIDITY CYCLING: Humidity and moisture resistance testing is performed to evaluate the properties of materials used in hardware construction. Testing may be conducted in a steady-state humidity environment or be temperature cycled depending on desired test method. Such testing seeks to evaluate absorption and diffusion of moisture, investigate deteriorative effects of corrosion, physical distortion, decomposition, stresses caused by freezing moisture, and detrimental changes in electrical properties. Humidity testing is often used, in an accelerated manner, to test products likely to be stored or deployed in a warm, humid environment or an environment in which high levels of humidity occur.
